Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and ENGIE EPS plan joint venture to…

– Car manufacturer FCA and energy company ENGIE EPS are aiming to form a joint venture in order to be able to offer a complete range of products and solutions for the use of electrically powered vehicles throughout Europe.
– Italian joint venture will have access to a portfolio of more than 100 patents and a strong team of electrical and systems engineers.
– The position of both companies in the automotive industry will be further expanded.

FCA Italy SpA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, and ENGIE EPS, an Italian technology company in the field of energy storage and electromobility, have signed a letter of intent to establish a joint venture.

The aim is to become a European leader in electric mobility, drawing on FCA's financial resources and industrial presence and ENGIE EPS's technological know-how and intellectual property. Both companies intend to join forces to strengthen their respective positions in the sustainable mobility sector and offer innovative solutions and services that make it easier for car buyers to access electric mobility.

The newly founded company will offer a full range of products and solutions for buyers and owners of electric vehicles. The portfolio includes, for example, charging infrastructure for private households, companies and public institutions, as well as green energy offers that enable charging of electric vehicles at home and at any public charging station across Europe with a simple subscription at a fixed monthly price.

The new company will create a major Italian player in the field of electromobility with access to hundreds of patents, the intellectual property and financial resources of FCA and ENGIE EPS, as well as a strong team of electrical and systems engineers. The positions of FCA and ENGIE EPS in the automotive industry will be strengthened accordingly. The aim of the planned joint venture is to focus on innovative and groundbreaking solutions for the European electromobility market. The planned transaction represents an important strategic step in the development of the product portfolio of both companies. The aim is to remove obstacles to the transition to electromobility in Europe.

"The signing of this letter of intent follows a constructive collaboration between FCA and ENGIE EPS that has already spanned three years. Joint projects include the exclusive easyWallbox, an easy-to-use plug-and-play charging station for private households, the Vehicle-to-Grid pilot project recently launched at FCA's Mirafiori plant, and innovative, customer-focused energy supply packages," says Mike Manley, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. "The planned joint venture enables even greater commitment from both parties, expands the existing collaboration, and offers opportunities to further develop our innovative products and services to support a smooth transition to electromobility in Europe."

The proposed transaction is subject to appropriate standard terms and conditions as well as all necessary notifications and approvals from the relevant authorities and institutions. Both parties expect to sign the entire agreement by the end of this year with the subsequent establishment of the joint venture in the first quarter of 2021.

The Modehaus Sellnau in Lüneburg is known for high-quality fashion far beyond the borders of the northern German city. No wonder - for over 30 years, the store, located on the popular Bardowicker Straße, has been the first port of call in the region when ladies are looking for the latest and hottest fashion trends.

Since September 15, 2020, the store is now in new hands. The former founder and owner is retiring – and paving the way for new fashionistas. From now on, the proven fashion expert will be in charge Sandra Fries the day-to-day business on site. Who pays the social and ecological costs of our consumer goods? What about supply chains, working conditions, environmental impacts and disposal of the products that are always available in affluent societies?

At the expense of others. Globalization in pictures

Whether in the supermarket, in the shopping mall or on the Internet - our everyday lives are characterized by constantly available goods and consumer goods. They are part of a global system in which raw materials are extracted and processed into goods, which in turn must be consumed and ultimately disposed of.

We rarely see more than the finished product. The photographic works and texts collected in the photo book “At the expense of others. Globalization in pictures” shed light on what goes on behind the scenes. They show where the coltan for our smartphones comes from, or how the vegetables end up on our plates and the used look on our jeans.

It becomes clear that the price for mass consumption and lifestyle in affluent societies is paid by people in other parts of the world – in the form of exploitation, miserable working conditions and increasing environmental destruction.
