Formula 1 driver Kimi Räikkönen drives privately Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Even after the end of the Formula 1 season, Kimi Räikkönen remains loyal to Alfa Romeo. The former world champion, currently and again in 2021 a driver for the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team, has now taken over an Alfa Romeo Stelvio in the Veloce equipment variant. The Finn personally chose the equipment, including the Rosso Alfa body color. The Italian SUV will accompany Räikkönen during the winter break and, thanks to the Alfa Q4 four-wheel drive, will bring him safely to his destination even in the most difficult road conditions.

A gravel path in the forest, a snowy road or a combination of curves in the pouring rain - what would be a challenge for us is part of everyday life in Northern Europe. In order to be as well prepared as possible, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is equipped with the Alfa Q4 four-wheel drive. The innovative system offers all the traction advantages of an all-wheel drive. At the same time, it also ensures reduced consumption, good engine responsiveness and the driving pleasure of a vehicle with rear-wheel drive.

The brain of the Alfa Q4 four-wheel drive is the Active Torque Control (ATC), which analyses the road grip conditions and the driver's power requirements in real time and thus optimally distributes the engine power to the four wheels. Depending on the situation, the Alfa Q4 transfers up to 150 percent of the engine torque to the rear axle in less than 50 milliseconds, using a very compact and lightweight differential in the front axle. The torque is distributed between the front and rear axles with extreme precision according to the actual traction conditions and the accelerator pedal position. This leads to exemplary values for traction and directional stability in curves.

Kimi Räikkönen can therefore challenge his Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce in every conceivable situation that snowy roads in Finland can offer. In addition, the Veloce equipment variant chosen by the former world champion is the epitome of sportiness. This is expressed on the exterior by model-specific bumpers, dark Miron finish and alloy wheels in an exclusive design. The interior impresses with leather sports seats with adjustable side bolsters and a leather sports steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles. The Alfa Connect 8,8″ MultiTouch infotainment system with an 8,8-inch monitor (22,4 centimeters) ensures modern connectivity and entertainment on board. The equipment also includes the instrument panel in TFT technology with a 7,0-inch screen (17,8 centimeters) and modern electronic driver assistance systems (ADAS) that enable autonomous driving at level 2.

FIA Formula 1 World Championship 2020 – Grand Prix of…

Kimi Räikkönen narrowly missed out on a top-1 result in the finale of the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship. The Finn finished 10th in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after keeping both Ferraris at bay for half of the race. Räikkönen's Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN teammate Antonio Giovinazzi crossed the finish line in 16th place.

The traditional fireworks display at the finish marked the final moment of the 2020 season. After 17 races in just 24 weeks, the most intense campaign in the history of Formula 1 came to an end. It was a tactical race with almost no retirements. Kimi Räikkönen from the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team finished the race as the best-placed driver with a Ferrari engine.

After a smooth start, in which Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen swapped positions after a few corners, a safety car phase was deployed after just ten laps. Several teams called their drivers into the pits. Räikkönen also had new hard tires fitted with the plan not to make another pit stop until the end of the race. His teammate Giovinazzi, on the other hand, only had his tires changed halfway through the race. In fact, there was only one safety car phase. Räikkönen, in 12th place, defended himself stubbornly against Charles Leclerc's Ferrari and kept the Monegasque behind him until the chequered flag. Giovinazzi overtook the two Haas drivers and Latifi in the Williams and was also able to close the gap to Russell in the second Williams with ease. However, he was unable to overtake and Giovinazzi ended up sixteenth.

Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN finishes the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season in 8th place in the Constructors’ Championship.

"We end the season with a good performance throughout the weekend. One car made it into Q2, the second part of qualifying. Both of our drivers were able to go the same pace as some competitors who finished ahead of us. Kimi Räikkönen finished as the best-placed driver of a car with a Ferrari engine and was even able to keep the two Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel behind him. We got everything we could out of the race. It was above all a good team performance, which shows how much we have improved compared to the beginning of the year. It was not an easy season. So many races in such a short time put a lot of strain on the team members and made it really difficult for us to work on the further development of the car. This process usually takes nine months. We made good steps forward. This is a testament to the successful work that has been done both at our team base in Hinwil and at the track. Hopefully we can save this momentum over the winter and take it with us into the new season."

"For me, it was a positive race with a good pace, especially compared to the previous weeks. I was pretty close to the guys in front of me, but I couldn't really put any pressure on them. For me, it's a good end to a season that was obviously a little disappointing in terms of results. We already knew after the tests at the beginning of the year that we had a difficult season ahead of us. But the team developed well and in the end we made some good steps forward. Hopefully we can continue on this path next year. But for now, we're all enjoying a break at home with our families."

"Not an easy race for me as not much happened after the start. I decided to stay on the medium tyres when the safety car came out. My hope was to benefit from a possible further neutralisation later. But the safety car was not deployed a second time, so my race strategy didn't work out. This brings a tough season to an end and I think we did everything we could. We made good progress in a relatively short time, but there is still a lot to improve. I hope we can achieve more in 2021. With a faster car we should have more fun and be able to fight for more World Championship points. Personally, I am happy with how I have improved as a driver. This was my main goal for the season. I want to build on that next season."

"We kept a cool head in a race where many others made mistakes. But in the end that wasn't enough to score World Championship points. Apart from Kimi's spin on the first lap, neither the drivers nor the team did much wrong. Positions 13 and 14 behind a Ferrari are probably all we could achieve. Antonio was able to maintain a good pace throughout the race. But overtaking is quite difficult on this track, so he wasn't really able to realize his potential. We can still improve and hopefully finish the season strong next weekend in Abu Dhabi to take momentum into the winter break."

Hopefully we can be a bit more competitive next weekend and finish the season well."

"In qualifying on Saturday we were among the fastest on the track. Unfortunately we were not able to capitalize on this very strong performance in the race. The race was challenging for us because we had a hard time dealing with the tires. We probably could have held our own on a wet track, but we struggled when the asphalt dried out. Apart from that, we lost Antonio Giovinazzi early in the race due to a technical problem. Kimi Räikkönen finished 15th, which also did not meet our expectations. On the positive side, we did not lose any ground compared to our direct rivals in the World Championship. With only three races left, we are another step closer to maintaining our eighth place in the overall standings."

"The race was really not fun. But honestly, I expected that when I saw the weather forecast. If it had been raining, I probably could have done much better. So it was difficult to find a good rhythm. At least as a team we didn't lose any points in the championship to our direct rivals."

"It was a challenging Sunday after the strong result in qualifying. I went off the track on the way to the starting grid, but luckily only damaged the front wing. My mechanic crew did a great job changing the wing and getting the car ready for the start of the race. Unfortunately, I was not in the race for long. My car had a gearbox problem and had to park it. For me, it was a day to forget. The conditions were even trickier than in qualifying and in the end, luck was not on my side. I am now looking forward to the next race."

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was the third race on Italian soil this season. With ninth and tenth place, Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi, the drivers of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team, scored both World Championship points in one race for the first time this year. One key to success was very good starts. Räikkönen immediately improved from 18th to 16th place, Giovinazzi from 20th to 14th. Giovinazzi, who had started on "soft" tires, was one of the first to head to the pits for a tire change.

Räikkönen started on the "medium" tyre type and stayed out until lap 48. A safety car phase just minutes after the Finn's stop seemed to ruin his chances of scoring world championship points. But Räikkönen and Giovinazzi kept a cool head in the chaotic phase after the restart and improved to 9th and 10th place respectively. They were able to defend these positions until the chequered flag, securing the best team result of the season so far. With the three world championship points from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN has consolidated eighth place in the overall standings.

I had a good race pace and was able to take advantage of the opportunities that came my way. The team has been closing the gap recently. There is obviously still a lot we can improve. But we are working really hard on it."

Alfa Romeo welcomes the extension of the contracts with Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi as drivers for the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN Formula 1 team. The 2007 world champion from Finland and the young Italian driver will also compete for the team in 2021.

In 2018, Antonio Giovinazzi was the first Italian in six years to compete permanently in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The 26-year-old has since played a key role in the positive development of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team. His performances over the past two years have shown an improvement, a fundamental factor for success in Formula 1. In the current season, Giovinazzi has excelled particularly in the respective starting phases, where he was able to gain several positions in each race.

The team has been supporting Giovinazzi with great determination since 2019. For Alfa Romeo, improving performance and striving for better results is a mission, but above all a source of great pride. After all, Alfa Romeo's connection to Italian drivers is part of the brand's great history in motorsport. In 1950, Nino Farina became the first world champion in the history of Formula 158 at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 1 "Alfetta" Grand Prix car.

Kimi Räikkönen is the most experienced driver in the current Formula 1 field. Special paintwork for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
The contract extensions with Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi come ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which will take place next weekend in Imola (Italy). The circuit is a major venue for Alfa Romeo and Italian motorsport tradition alike. The two cars of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN team will feature a special livery for the occasion. The design, created by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, honors the fans with an Italian flag on the upper part of the engine cover and on the end plates of the rear wing. This graphic matches perfectly with the regular Speed Pixel livery of the two cars in the 2020 season.

In addition, the exclusive logo for Alfa Romeo's 110th anniversary is prominently displayed, also on the engine cover. Next to it is the inscription "Welcome back, Imola", which refers to the return of the iconic race track to the Formula 1 calendar and its importance for Italian racing. From touring cars to sports prototypes to Formula 1, Imola has also been the scene of important successes for Alfa Romeo.
