“Golden Steering Wheel” – Alfa Romeo Giulia wins award for the first time…
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia is now also available with a steering wheel made of precious metal, of course only in a figurative sense. The four-door sports sedan was voted the "Most Beautiful Car" in the renowned "Golden Steering Wheel" competition. With this award, which is being given for the first time, the Alfa Romeo Giulia is adding a particularly meaningful trophy to its already impressive collection of international awards. The verdict for the "Golden Steering Wheel" is made by two groups with very different approaches - readers, in this case from Bild am Sonntag and Auto Bild, and a 29-member jury of experts. The automotive experts included rally world champions Walter Röhrl and Sébastien Ogier, DTM champion Mattias Ekström and designer Andrea Zagato, as well as celebrity presenter Barbara Schöneberger, actor Richy Müller and Olympic ice skating champion Katarina Witt.

The design of the Alfa Romeo Giulia was developed in the in-house Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. With an unfailing sense of proportion, stylistic straightness and high-quality surfaces, the sports sedan is in the tradition of Italian design. It combines harmonious proportions, stylistic straightness, high quality materials and lovingly crafted details with materials such as aluminum, wood and leather. There are also elements that have their origins in the brand's more than 100-year history. The most striking example is the trapezoidal radiator grille, perhaps Alfa Romeo's most famous design icon.
Alfa Romeo is one of the fastest growing car brands. In September, sales volume in Germany increased by 131 percent compared to the previous year (total market plus 9 percent), meaning Alfa Romeo has completed one of the most successful months in recent years. Since the beginning of the year, Alfa Romeo has recorded an increase of over 44 percent compared to 2015.
The "Golden Steering Wheel" has been awarded since 1976, this year in a total of seven categories. Alfa Romeo was already one of the winners in 2011 with the advertising campaign "I am Giulietta". In 2000, the Alfa Romeo 147 won in its class. And in 1995, the "Golden Steering Wheel" in the "Coupés" category went to the Alfa Romeo GTV.
