The fact that eSports is growing ever faster and promises to be a profitable business has now even spread to the clubs in the Bundesliga, which are gradually setting up their own professional teams in this young sports sector. ELC Gaming, a tournament and event organizer from the global Allied ESports network, has been observing this phenomenon for years. What is new and extremely noteworthy is that more and more families - people from young to old - are being infected by the eSports virus.
This recently happened at the motorsport and music festival "Werner Race 2018", where ELC Gaming presented itself for four days with the world's only eSports truck "Big Betty", which stood out from all the other racing vehicles thanks to its voluminous appearance. In the new edition of the cult race that was first held 30 years ago, Werner inventor Rötger "Brösel" Feldmann defeated Kiel bar owner Holger "Holgi" Henze in his Porsche 911 with his Horex.

The striking truck attracts people with its extravagant appearance - but that's not all. Matthias Meyer, Head of ESports at ELC Gaming, said after the event was internally reviewed: "More and more families are getting excited about ESports. On event days, we had around 3.500 people pass through our area, across all age groups, of whom 2.500 people were interested in further and upcoming events."
Based on these experiences and the many discussions the ELC Gaming team has had with older interested parties, Matthias Meyer is convinced: "ESports and gaming have now reached an extremely high level of awareness." "Big Betty" captivated the visitors to the 2018 Werner Race. And the ELC Gaming team prepared for the boom, which saw the truck run at up to 95% capacity.
ESports facts about the Werner Race 2018:
– The game played was “Project CARS2”, probably the best racing simulator on the consumer market.
– The youngest participant was 5 years old and was allowed to ride together with his dad sitting on his lap.
– ELC Gaming organized pure “children’s races” between children and teenagers between the ages of 9 and 13.
– Four racing cockpits including racing seats and high-quality steering wheels were available.
– ELC Gaming installed a four-times triple monitor setup for a wider field of view.

Celebrities such as drivers and participants of the 2018 Werner Race were also enthusiastic. Moderator Matze Knop, for example, took the opportunity to take a close look at "Big Betty". "We are of course delighted that our family-friendly concept has been so well received," says Matthias Meyer. "We can now be sure that it works and are already working on scaling it up for future events."
