A year ago, FCA presented the prototype of the E-Ducato, the fully electric BEV (battery electric vehicle) developed by Fiat Professional as part of the brand's journey towards locally zero-emission vehicles. During this year, despite all the difficulties caused by the lockdown of recent months, FCA continued the development of the new model with the help of simulation tools. Fiat Professional sales staff have familiarized themselves with the new van through in-depth training in the virtual classroom, which is now ready for launch in pilot projects with selected customers.
The E-Ducato is the result of an extensive series of measurements and tests that took into account all the usage variables of the different types of customers, as well as dynamic, load and environmental aspects. Today, World Environment Day, is an opportunity to highlight the new 100% electric solution for a vehicle that is 100% Ducato, capable of contributing to the future sustainability of mobility and the economy. The new electric vehicle, together with the methane-powered Ducato Natural Power, will soon complete the range of alternative propulsion systems with which Fiat Professional is facing the challenges of the market.
The visualization of a revolution: the new logo
To mark the beginning of this new electric era, the logo created by the FCA Style Center makes its debut as a symbolic embrace of the best-seller's future and present. The logo itself is made up of two distinct elements: a letter "E" in blue - the color traditionally associated with innovation and sustainability - and a "D" for Ducato in brushed silver above it, to highlight the strong, recognizable character of a vehicle that doesn't need a spotlight to shine.
This 100% electric van will write a new chapter in the history of the Ducato, the legend that first appeared 39 years ago and has been revived time and again with its commercial successes and groundbreaking technologies. "100% electric, 100% Ducato": the "E-Ducato" logo is the visual representation of a revolution that will take the brand into the mobility of the future.
The electric version of the Ducato will be Fiat Professional's flagship for electromobility and, above all, for the transition from "vehicle choice" to "mobility choice", which, due to specific work and business factors, transforms the concept of vehicle purchase from "Total Cost of Ownership" to "Total Cost of Mobility". In this way, Fiat Professional demonstrates more than ever its full commitment to developing vehicles tailored precisely to customer needs.
Developed by professionals with support from professionals
The development of the E-Ducato involved over a year of analyzing over 28.000 connected vehicles with combustion engines over more than 50 million kilometers of road tests and measurements from the customer's perspective to take into account all variables of customer use, dynamics, load and environmental aspects.
The analyses focused on mileage, model variability for each type of task, fuel costs, vehicle usage and temperature.

With this approach, Fiat Professional aims to offer comprehensive solutions for electric mobility. Starting from an analysis of energy needs, these solutions will not only cover every single task, but will also provide answers ranging from the vehicle to the infrastructure, not to mention a series of everyday services that are increasingly needed due to a new and emerging mobility.
In addition to a full range of body and body versions, the E-Ducato also offers modular options for battery size, with ranges from 220 to 360 kilometers (NEDC cycle) and a wide range of charging configurations. It also has high performance potential: speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour for improved energy absorption, maximum power of 90 kW and maximum torque of 280 Newton meters1. The new electric motor also does not compromise the traditional strengths of the Ducato, such as its best-in-class load volume of ten to 17 cubic meters and its also best-in-class payload of up to 1.950 kilograms. What's more, the E-Ducato is 100% connected, with an exclusive range of features that cover the business and electrification needs of every type of customer, from user choosers and self-drivers to large fleets using a management system. Fiat Professional is leveraging its technological heritage and experience to develop the electric version of its best-seller.
A flagship without limitations
The new E-Ducato makes no compromises: 100% Ducato, 100% electric. It will therefore be Fiat Professional's flagship for electromobility and, above all, for the increasingly clear transition from "choice of vehicle" to "choice of mobility", as, due to specific work and business factors, the concept of vehicle purchase is shifting from "Total Cost of Ownership" to "Total Cost of Mobility".
Comprehensive training for a new sales process
To ensure that the professional experience of the E-Ducato begins before getting on board, Fiat Professional organised training days for field sales in February, attended by 265 sales representatives and sales agents, as well as managers from 124 dealerships in the main markets. They also carried out test drives on the Balocco test track and were able to get to know the new all-electric driving modes. The new WLTP homologation procedure and its impact on the world of vehicles with optional equipment were also discussed in depth. Presentations on mobile workshops, refrigeration and people carriers reflected the versatility that has always been one of the strengths of the Fiat Professional Ducato.
Virtual Training: From Training Developments to Business Development
Given the current social distancing measures, Fiat Professional continued the training sessions in a virtual format. Each remote training session focused in depth on the product. The technical specifications and line-up of the E-Ducato were discussed in detail, with particular attention to its innovative aspects. All virtual classrooms were a great success and well attended. For example, there were already 310 participants from Germany, 120 from Poland and 210 from non-EEA regions, while online training sessions will soon start in the rest of the European markets, including Spain, France and the UK.
On its way to market, the E-Ducato will soon undergo extensive field tests by partner customers under normal working conditions. On this basis, the E-Ducato will be prepared for its market launch, which is scheduled to take place in the next few months.
1Versions not yet available to order in Germany. The official energy consumption according to Directive 80/1268/EEC will be available when the versions have been homologated.
