Abarth 595 wins reader's choice at "auto motor und sport"
– Italian compact sports car wins the “Autonis” competition in the Minicars category.
– Abarth 595 series offers five model versions as a sedan and convertible with up to 132 kW (180 hp) power.
Clear victory for the Abarth 595 at “auto motor und sport”. Readers of the trade magazine voted the Italian compact sports car the winner of the minicars category in the “Autonis” competition. With a share of 58,7 percent of the vote, the Abarth 595/695 series clearly beat the competition.
"Even exactly 70 years after Abarth was founded, the brand's great success is based on the technology transfer from racing to series production. I am proud that first place at 'Autonis' is the second victory this year for the Abarth 1 in a competition organized by 'auto motor und sport' after the class win at 'Best Cars'. This shows that the sport factor is particularly important to readers and that our product strategy is very well received," said Roberto Debortoli, Brand Country Manager Fiat/Abarth, at the award ceremony in Stuttgart.
In the "Autonis" competition, exactly 100 new or refurbished vehicle models in ten classes were put to the readers' judgement. A total of 13.762 votes were cast. The result within the category is a balance of approval and rejection by the jury for each model - readers could also give a negative verdict.
The Abarth 595 series includes the Abarth 595 variants with 107 kW (145 hp), the performance-oriented Abarth 595 Pista with 118 kW (160 hp), the particularly exclusively equipped Abarth 595 Turismo with 121 kW (165 hp), the sporty Abarth 595 Competizione with 132 kW (180 hp), and the top model Abarth 595 esseesse, which impresses with technology derived from racing. All five model versions are available as a sedan and as a convertible with an electrically operated fabric roll-up roof.
